IMECE Start Up Band

The "Start Up Band" competition, covered by CNN Türk, and Haber Türk, was organized under the IMECE Program by Habitat Association in collaboration with UNHCR and sponsored by International Medical Corps. The event brought together scores of refugee musicians from diverse nations alongside Turkish musicians. It aimed to foster music entrepreneurship and promote world peace through collaborative music-making. Renowned jury members, including members of Kurtalan Ekspres, selected the winning band. The second prize, a cash prize, went to the "United Voices Band," where Omar Alkilani participated as a musician.

Throughout the project, participants engaged in a songwriting camp format, where musicians from different backgrounds came together for a few days. They formed groups, composed new songs, and presented their creations to the audience and jury on the final day of the event.
